June 2008 - The event which officially launched the new embc Learning Network Services was held on 24 June 2008 at Holywell Park, Loughborough University, with attendees from eight Local Authorities. An insightful and lively presentation included speakers from keynote education speaker John Davitt, with senior members from embc, Synetrix and Microsoft. Prizes were awarded to the schoolchildren winners of the Netiquette Competition, followed by a showcase demonstration of services now available to schools.

January 2008 - Highlighting the impact of a powerful Learning Gateway integrated with valuable educational, administrative and communications resources, Microsoft released the case study on the Leeds Learning Network (designed and managed by Synetrix) this year at BETT 2008.
What's different about this story is not what can be achieved with technology, but what has already been achieved - through personalised access to learning spaces and communications tools, collaboration encouraged amongst students, teachers, parents and carers, and an increased focused on user generated content - which is currently serving over 100,000 pupils and staff within the Leeds metropolitan area Education community.

January 2008 - NHS Connecting for Health, on behalf of the NHS, has secured a range of Framework Contracts through open competition for Additional Supply Capability & Capacity (ASCC) of IT products and services to the NHS. The ASCC Frameworks will enable the streamlined procurement of IT systems and services from suppliers who have demonstrated experience in the health sector and can be used to support both National Programme for IT (NPfIT) related work and wider IT related projects.

October 2007 - London’s 2600 maintained schools can now receive greater protection from a growing tide of inappropriate online behaviour such a cyber-bullying. Surveys suggest that 11% of 12-15 years old have been bullied over the internet and via email. London schools can be protected by the latest security software via LGfL, supplied by Synetrix the software sits within the LGfL network and is provided as a managed service.

Aug 2007 - Acting on behalf of 31 Local Authorities (LAs) and their schools in the acquisition and supply of fixed line, mobile and wireless broadband connectivity services, under the OGC framework, Becta conducted a Broadband Connectivity mini-competition which was awarded to Synetrix.
The Computers for Pupils funding is targeted at Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils resident in the 10% most deprived areas in England, putting ICT into the homes with the aim of giving these pupils the same opportunities as their peers; providing conditions that support progress towards their targets, support personalised learning by providing access to ICT whenever or wherever is most appropriate for learning, and encourage the development of ICT skills appropriate to the 21st Century for the pupils and their families.
