Single Sign-On and Privacy Management
Shibboleth is the Open Source software framework approved by Becta to facilitate online Identity Management, Single Sign-On (SSO) and Privacy Management for every teacher, learner, school and LEA in the UK. Shibboleth allows you to manage the web access and authentication for high volumes of users in multiple locations (home, school, library etc). Built from the ground up, Shibboleth protects the privacy and online identities of institutions and individuals plus provides true standards based SSO to all your learners’ digital assets and applications using standard PKI technologies.
Synetrix and i2Q provide tailored Shibboleth IDP (Identity Provider) services in Microsoft, Linux and mixed environments plus a range of integration options to deliver a managed and enhanced end user experience with reduced barriers to learning opportunities and heightened security with e-safety in mind.
Learning Platforms
Learning Platforms is a far reaching term which encompasses the aggregation and integration of course management, content management, assessment & tracking, communication tools, collaboration tools, MIS data and school back office systems working in harmony to delivery a holistic e-learning experience.
Microsoft Learning Gateway
Synetrix and i2Q provide both hosted and local, fully managed Microsoft Learning Gateway (MLG) solutions with a range of branding and integration options. The MLG helps educators delivered personalised, role based learning experiences alongside industry standard, flexible and user focused technologies including MS Exchange, SharePoint and SharePoint Learning Kit. This integrated and holistic view provides a robust environment to deliver a truly personalised learning experience delivered with security and online safety.
Moodle
In addition to the MLG, Synetrix and i2Q also offer a hosted and managed Moodle service. Moodle is Open Source so it carries no license fee although it does not provide hosting, support or SLA. These elements are crucial when delivering mission critical learning services and providing ‘anytime, anywhere, access’ to learning.
Content Access and Delivery Management
As the availability and uptake of rich, digital, multimedia content continues to grow, it becomes increasingly important to ensure content is discoverable, accessible and deliverable in ever more coherent and efficient ways. Synetrix and i2Q provide education focused content delivery networks (CDN) which ensure content is positioned close to end users based on content subscription profiles. Cross content library searching from a single location and SSO provide easy access to content assets whilst the CDN element uses network low usage times to pre-populate local caches with educational content. Synetrix & i2Q work with over 30 leading educational digital content publishers.
Interoperability and Integration
To deliver personalised and effective learning experiences, it is important to align learning services. This can mean integrating 3rd party applications and content, ensuring asset & data interoperability and ensuring data can be securely transferred between systems in understandable formats. Synetrix and i2Q provide a range of enterprise application integration services with 3rd party apps and data sources such as school MIS.
